Back to the Blog
Twice I have tried to retire my blog and twice I have gone back to it. Twice I have tried Tumblr and twice I’ve felt, meh. So chances are I won’t be posting much here in the future. I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t blog right. I mean, I know how to establish and grow a semi-professional blog, how to develop an audience, how to add value to the conversation…...

New jobs are exhausting!
Today was Day 2 of my new job as Account Director at Twist Image and I am absolutely exhausted. I forgot how mentally draining it is to start a new job. Between cramming all that new information into my head, trying to remember everyone’s names and always being “on”, by the end of the day I am tired to my very core. It’s a huge shock the system to go from a place where I...

Screw Running!
You know what? Screw Couch to 5K! I was only trying it because it seemed like a good early Spring activity, for when the weather is nice enough to go outside but there’s still slush on the ground. But it seems that Mother Nature has decided to skip that messy between season transition so I’m going to follow suit and go straight for the wheels - bike and rollerblades. Today I went for...

Shorts Wearin' Weather
Queen West was packed today! Everyone out on the street taking advantage of this early taste of Spring. It reminded me of a similar, unseasonably warm, early Spring day in Montreal. My friend, Julius, and I were heading to my place to make brunch, he in a sweater, shorts and doc martins, me in a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers. We strolled down the Main, past the rapidly melting snowbanks with our...

Me = Motivated
This Spring-like weather, as well as some other recent developments in my professional life, have me feeling super motivated and enthusiastic about, well… everything! So I decided to give the Couch to 5K program another try. I gave it a shot before Christmas but it all fell apart once the holidays arrived. Then I totally fell of the exercise wagon when my boyfriend’s tour was canceled...

Team Martin is Unbeatable!
It’s official. After winning the Gold in men’s curling tonight, with an undefeated Olympic record, Team Martin is literally unbeatable. Assuming each team in the competition represented the absolute best their country had to offer, that means there is no team in the world capable of beating Team Martin in a single match. Incredible. Feeling very proud to be Canadian right now.

I am one of the 300,000
According to Mashable, Plants vs Zombies for iPhone hit 300,000 downloads in 9 days which may be a new record for app store launches (still to be verified). I’m not ashamed to admit that I am one of the 300,000. PvZ is the most addictive game I have played in a long time. It has my boyfriend and I fighting over my iPhone. I might have to come up with a sharing schedule before it drives a...

Opera Mini on iPhone. I Want!
Can it really be 5x faster than Safari? Here’s what you need to know (via Engadget): The impressive performance gain has to do with how Opera Mini works. First, it’s not doing any rendering of the pages or code processing locally. Web pages are processed by Opera’s servers before sending just the results to the iPhone. Not only does this speed up the local processing but it also...

Nerd Merit Badges →
As a proud nerd and collector of things, these merit badges made me squeal with glee. I hope they expand their offering - less badges for programmers and more for suit-wearing interweb nerds like me. Apparently, they’re coming out with Foursquare badges. Yet another reason to abandon my beloved Gowalla and head back to 4sq?

What am I doing here?
I don’t mean “What am I doing here?” in an existential, meaning of life kinda way. I mean, what am I doing here on Tumblr? A few weeks ago I retired my blog on its 5th anniversary. I had grown tired of composing fully baked posts and felt that it had run its course. But I still need an outlet because 140 characters isn’t always enough for me to sufficiently throw my opinion...

B2ten →
Not entirely sure yet but I think I like this B2ten idea. One side feels like all Olympic athletes should be treated equally. But the other thinks it makes perfect sense to approach athlete training like a business.

Google Buzz, so far so meh
Allow me to add my voice to the masses of Gmail users underwhelmed by Google Buzz. I just don’t see how it’s that much different from all the other social networks out there. Andrew Leonard, over at Salon.com, points out that “Adding functionality to a core platform in your life is much more attractive than setting up yet another entirely new service.” But there’s the...

The New Social Technographics →
Not sure how this one escaped me, because I pretty much live in forrester.com, but Forrester has updated their Social Technographics hierarchy and added a new profile - Conversationalists. More engaged than those who simply rate or comment, but not as focused on content creation as bloggers or podcasters, Conversationalists are characterized as those who update their Facebook status or post to...

Airport Mania →
I’m in love with Airport Mania right now. How can a game be so addictive yet soothing at the same time? Patterns and efficiency. Patterns and efficiency. Two things that please me to the core of my being. Plus I love the giggly little noises the planes make when they unload.
